Features Overview

I came to NYC from Virginia in the 1990’s after graduating from college with a BFA in illustration. I was lucky enough to immediately land a job at Tower Records working in the design studio. It wasn’t only a great way to become indoctinated into the Lower East Side, but at Tower that I developed a foundation of skills that has carried me through the rest of my career. Unfortunately I was learning methods that were quickly becoming obscolete. We created displays and advertising in a traditional studio - projecting. painting, sculpting, mounting, and trimming all art by hand, while computers had transformed every aspect of graphic design. I took night classes to learn the new process and began a career in print production and design that’s carried me through a variety of top design agencies for some of the most recognizable brands in the world.

I’ve continued to practice a lifelong love of painting and illustration sporadically with occassional group shows and illustration work, but made it more of a hobby as I became interested in video production and editing. As digital video made it more accessible I started to learn the film making process. At first it was in an effort to create narrative films, but it has lead me to working experience in most every aspect and level of video production, from editing and shooting for independent films, to PA work for film and television, including a production credit on the Wes Anderson film, Moonrise Kingdom. It has also led to my producing several successful films and a variety of commercial work.

The three main pursuits of graphic design, illustration and video production that I’ve developed since coming to NY are represented here. I continue to seek new opportunities in all three and especially like it when they come together.
